Prints of Living Things

I guess one of the reasons that nature photography always remains fresh and doesn’t become boring like so many other endeavors do, is that the subjects we work with are ever changing. I’ve been know to spend hours (no kidding) taking photos of just one flower.

In fact, if someone had told me only a few years ago that I’d get so much enjoyment out of photographing flowers, I would have been skeptical, to say the least. It’s easy to understand where the enjoyment comes from, just by exploring a single blossom. Sometimes even blossoms that are past their prime offer wonderful opportunities to the nature photographer.

Then, of course, the subject of “living things” has to include wildlife. While I haven’t had much time to explore this genre`, as I get more time I’m beginning to really respect the wildlife photographers who have both the time and patience. But, few subjects are more rewarding when you succeed than the courtly and proud looking Great Blue Heron or a majestic Brown Pelican. Hard to resist.
